Students at Erasmus Darwin Academy are expected to behave well at all times, both while on the Academy site and while they are travelling to and from school. Our Behaviour for Learning Policy explains Academy rules and expectations clearly, and these guidelines are known by all students. In this section you can see details of our ‘Behaviour for Learning Code’ and our ‘Classroom Expectations’. Student conduct is managed and monitored by Assistant Principals and Student Support Managers for each House. We work closely with parents regarding any behaviour concerns.
Student safety is paramount at Erasmus Darwin Academy, and all students are informed about what they should do to keep safe. Allegations of bullying are attended to as a matter of high priority, involving parents and the students themselves in immediate action to deal with such problems. Students can access support themselves on any matter, and we have a dedicated team to support them in our Student Inclusion Zone.
We are committed to promoting E-Safety, and this is explicitly taught in ICT and PSHE lessons. The Academy’s IT network is monitored by Safeguarding software, and we receive detailed reports if any misuse of our network or the internet occurs. We always act on concerns, and keep parents informed.
Our classroom expectations are that students:
- attend lessons with appropriate equipment.
- sit up straight, listen attentively and track the teacher.
- completes work to the best of ability at all times.
- ask and answer questions during lessons.
- follow instructions first time, every time.
- never interrupt learning.
