Our students are both philanthropic and altruistic in their attitudes towards helping others. There are countless opportunities throughout the academic year to fundraise for charities near and far.
We have two annual appeals in November; the first being a shoebox appeal which supports both Operation Christmas Child and a local Staffordshire charity. The second being a grocery appeal where the donations are shared with vulnerable members of our local community. Students last year (and in previous years) collected over 600 shoeboxes and 2000 items for distribution. This is on top of ‘seasonal events’ such as Children In Need, UNICEF day and Christmas Jumper Day. The final community event of the year is the Summer Fayre, where students demonstrate enterprise with their stalls and the Academy Council make a decision as to where the proceeds go. Previous beneficiaries include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, British Heart Foundation, the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Dog’s Trust.
