Parental Involvement At The Academy
There are many other ways in which parents can get involved with and support staff at Erasmus Darwin Academy.
HOME-ACADEMY AGREEMENT
Parents support the Academy initially by signing the Home-Academy Agreement. In this document, parents commit to supporting the Academy by ensuring that their child arrives on time, with the correct equipment and in full uniform. We agree to support parents with their child’s education and will contact them to inform parents of any key information.
PARENT CONSULTATION EVENINGS
Parents are invited annually to a ‘Parents’ Consultation Evening’, at which they have an opportunity to meet their child’s subject teachers. ) This information is taken very seriously, is analysed closely and is followed up with appropriate action. Parents of Year 7 students should please note that there is an additional evening in the first half term where you will meet your child’s tutor to ensure that the transition process has been positive and allow you to meet the teacher who will be closest working with your child.
PARENT INFORMATION EVENINGS
There are a number of events throughout a students’ school journey from Year 7 to Sixth Form where you may be invited to attend briefings. These tend to be around 45 minutes and are an opportunity to interact with Academy staff regarding key next steps. Examples of this are Work Experience Information Evenings, Sixth Form Open Evening and Y11 Success evenings. All residential visits will also have parental information that requires a face to face meeting.
PARENT SURVEY
Twice a year, families are consulted to ascertain both areas of success and development. This information is taken seriously and shared with all stakeholders, including staff, students, families and the Governing Body.
