Erasmus Darwin Academy works in partnership with a wide variety of organisations and details of some of our key partnerships are outlined below.
LOCAL SCHOOLS
We work in partnership with local primary and secondary schools in the Lichfield and Burntwood area, and Headteachers meet together on a regular basis to discuss matters of common interest. The Principal is also a member of the Staffordshire Secondary Heads Forum.
POST-16 CONSORTIUM
The five local secondary schools work together to secure the best Post-16 provision. Through partnership working, the schools facilitate a broad and balanced curriculum offer, which maximises personal choice, opportunity and individual learning needs. A fundamental element in maintaining the quality and integrity of our partnership working is the agreement contained in the Lichfield and Burntwood District Protocols for Partnership Working. The protocols detail the duties of our Academy as a Learning Provider and as a Learning Base within our partnership.
ARTHUR TERRY TEACHING SCHOOL ALLIANCE
Erasmus Darwin Academy is proud to be a member of the Arthur Terry Teaching School Alliance (ATTS). The Principal of the Academy is a member of the Teaching School Steering Group and the SCITT Management Group. We work closely with the Alliance in the provision of high quality placement for Initial Teacher Training. We participate in CPD activities and Academy staff deliver CPD to staff in other schools through the Alliance. Two of our staff have been appointed as Specialist Leaders of Education through the Teaching School Alliance.
ERASMUS DARWIN HOUSE
We enjoy an active partnership with Erasmus Darwin House in Lichfield. Representatives of Erasmus Darwin House formally opened the Academy in 2011, and they kindly attend our Annual Presentation Evening to present the Erasmus Darwin Award. Each year we invite representatives to speak in assemblies so that students continue to learn about Erasmus Darwin, his legacy and its relevance to our school. We work together to create a float at the Lichfield bower Festival, and we won first prize in 2012! The museum created a wonderful opportunity for our students to create an electronic display unit which is now part of the ‘Inventions Room’ at Erasmus Darwin House.
SCHOOL GAMES
Erasmus Darwin Academy is a Hub School for the School Games initiative and the local School Games Coordinator is a member of our staff. The School Games Organiser works with over twenty local schools coordinating a great variety of competitive sports activities throughout the year. She also promotes sports leadership amongst students and enables local students to progress to the annual Staffordshire School Games Festival.
