Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is extra funding given to schools to help improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. We use it to make sure children who need additional support, academically, socially or emotionally, can access the right opportunities to thrive. This funding is provided for pupils who are eligible for Targeted Free School Meals (FSM), have been eligible at any point in the last six years (Ever 6 FSM), are looked after, previously looked after, or have a parent in the armed forces.
Our Pupil Premium Strategy is recorded in line with the format specified by DfE Guidance (which can be viewed here). Our spend plan sets out how we use the funding to address specific barriers, strengthen teaching, and provide targeted support to help improve the attainment of our Disadvantaged students.
Free School Meal Changes from September 2026
From September 2026, eligibility for Free School Meals (FSM) in England will expand to include all children from households receiving Universal Credit.
There will be two categories of benefits-based Free School Meals:
- Targeted FSM – Universal Credit households earning less than £7400
- Expanded FSM – Universal Credit households earning more than £7400 (this is new)
Please note that as a school, we sign up to the automatic checking service. This means once you apply, an automatic check will take place to recheck your eligibility each year.
- If you are no longer eligible, your FSM allowance will continue until the end of the academic year and will then come to an end.
- If you are eligible, your FSM allowance will continue into the next year.
We strongly encourage all families to check their eligibility, even if you have applied before and were not successful. Applying only takes a few minutes but can make a meaningful difference to your child’s school experience.
