Erasmus Darwin Academy has moved to a financial system in which students no longer use cash at school as all payments can now be loaded remotely by parents.
Cashless Catering is a catering management system in which no cash payments are made in the cafeteria. Instead, spending will be recorded against a student’s account, using a card-based recognition system. The Academy has chosen to implement the Gladstone-Education system to improve meal time administration and operational efficiency. The Cashless Catering system improves security, enables parents to see which items of food a student purchases, supports the promotion of healthy eating and removes any stigma around the claiming of free school meals.
Features of the Cashless system include:
– Identification of users by a personalised card
– Automatic allocation of Free School Meal allowances
– Recording of all transactions on the user’s account
– Recording of when and where items are purchased
Money can be added to the student’s account online (using the WisePay website).
Academy systems also enable cashless payments for other transactions such as payments educational visits, bus tickets or items of Academy Uniform.
