Dear Parents and Carers,
9th July/12th July Familiarisation Sessions – POSTPONEMENT
Following an exponential increase of ‘Delta Variant’ COVID-19 cases affecting primarily primary and secondary schools, both locally and nationally, we have made the decision to postpone the familiarisation opportunity for Year 6 students, which were due to take place next week. To this end, there will be no further visits to the Academy until the commencement of the Summer School on 22nd July, which we still fully expect to go ahead with the students who have enrolled.
For those students who are attending the Summer School (which comprises of the vast majority of the cohort), we will ensure that the experiences and information which were scheduled to be shared on 9th / 12th are relayed. As mentioned previously on the enrolment form for the Summer School, it is important that your child is supported with completing a Lateral Flow Test prior to arriving on 22nd and we will be sending out LFT kits, summer activity work and the Parent Handbook via your child’s primary school around 16th July.
For those students who are unable to attend the Summer School, we will facilitate an opportunity on 1st September in the late afternoon for your child to visit the Academy if you believe that a look around before the first day of school will assist them with the transition. Please contact email@example.com from 25th August if you wish to take advantage of this provision and we can send final details. We anticipate that this will be for students only but parents will be able to wait onsite whilst the tour is taking place.
We realise that this will be a disappointing message. However, for reasons mentioned above, we would not want a visit to the Academy to disrupt your family or result in a disrupted final week at your child’s primary school for COVID-related reasons. We hope that you understand our motivation for this schedule change and that your child enjoys their final fortnight at their primary school. Having the privilege of meeting all of our new Year 7, we know that this will be a group of students who are ready to demonstrate our Academy values and who will settle quickly despite our disrupted plans and we are very much looking forward to welcoming them into our EDA community.
