Erasmus Darwin Academy welcomes admissions enquiries from local parents on behalf of their children. The main principle of admission to Erasmus Darwin Academy is to maintain the character of the Academy as an inclusive school, providing for the needs of young persons within the 11-18 age range who live in Burntwood and the surrounding areas.
In September 2018, we will admit students into our current Year 7 from approximately 30 different primary schools. Admission to our Academy is not dependent on any ‘voluntary’ contribution. The Academy endeavours to provide places for students whose parents wish them to attend Erasmus Darwin Academy, provided that they can be accommodated within the admission limits. Students will be admitted at the age of 11+ without reference to ability or aptitude, using the criteria contained in our Admissions Policy. The planned admission number for September 2019 is 185.
Although the Academy’s governing body is the admissions authority, the Academy participates in the Local Authority Co-ordinated Scheme for Admissions to Primary and Secondary Schools. This means that Staffordshire County Council’s School Admissions and Transport Service (SA&TS) co-ordinates all admissions at our Academy in resoect of applications for school places at the normal age of entry (ie at the start of Year 7). Therefore, all protocols and deadlines contained within the Co-ordination Scheme will be adhered to.

Sixth Form Admission September 2019
Students interested in applying for the Academy Sixth Form must meet the general admission criteria as published in the Sixth Form Prospectus. A number of courses specify other particular requirements. In some subjects, a further assessment will be taken at the school during the first 4 weeks of the course. We invite applications from students who wish to apply from other schools to join our Sixth Form.
