Erasmus Darwin Academy is a highly successful co-educational school for girls and boys aged 11-18 years. We are the school of first choice for parents of children from 26 different primary schools. The Academy serves a wide local community, attracting students from the Burntwood area and well beyond.
The Governors of this school chose to consider Academy status, and we converted to become an Academy on 1st July 2011. Since becoming an Academy, the school roll has increased both in the Main School and in the Sixth Form.
This is a school with high academic standards, and we are committed to ensuring that all students make excellent progress during their time with us. We are also aware that education is a process that continues outside the school day and after students leave the Academy at 16 or 18 years. Our aim is to prepare every student to lead a fulfilling adult life.
We are particularly keen to develop the skills and competencies required in the workplace. As well as mastering reading, writing, communication and Mathematics, we foster wider skills and attributes such as teamwork, leadership, creativity, resilience and respect for everyone in society.
We have a strong House system, providing a family base for each student, and a personal tutor supports and guides each individual throughout her or his time at the Academy. I am proud to lead Erasmus Darwin Academy and it is my mission to make each student’s individual experience at this school as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.
